The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom producer Eiji Aonuma svare på fans håb, om den traditionelle lineære Zelda oplevelse vil vende tilbage
Denne debat har kørt siden udgivelsen af Breath of the Wild I 2017. Aouma gav hans tanker omkring emnet I et nyt interview med IGN.
“It’s interesting when I hear people say [I miss traditional linear Zelda], because I’m wondering ‘why do you want to go back to a type of game where you’re more limited or more restricted in the types of things or ways you can play?”

Spil med en mere lineær oplevelse med en bestemt rækkefølge af ting man oplever er “kind of games of the past” I følge Aonuma.
Imens moderne spil:
“can accept a player’s own decisions and give them the freedom to flexibly proceed”. This is the design philosophy of the Zelda team at Nintendo, han tilføjede “I do have to admit making games that way always carries with it additional development costs”.

Aonuma tilføjede dog at han godt kan forstå kaldet til den mere traditionelle Zelda oplevelse.
“I do understand that desire that we have for nostalgia,” han tilføjede “and so I can also understand it from that aspect.”

Han afsluttede sit interview med at sige:
“I also think with the freedom players have in the more recent games in the [Zelda] series […] there is still a set path. “it just happens to be the path that they chose.”
